The Australian-American pianist Edward Neeman is a fresh new voice on the contemporary piano scene. He has won first prizes in the Rodrigo International Piano Competition, the Carlet International Piano Competition, and the Kawai Australasian Concerto Competition among others. In the past year, Edward has given recitals and masterclasses across Spain, the United States, Australia and Indonesia. He has performed with orchestras across Australia, the United States and Europe, and has been featured on ABC television and radio programs in Australia. A composer himself, Edward enjoys working with living composers, and has performed with contemporary music ensembles in New York such as the Axiom Ensemble and the Loki Ensemble. He is committed to raising the profile of Australian music in the United States, and to this end he launched a series of Australian music concerts in 2009. In April 2010, he premiered the first piano sonata by Larry Sitsky, “Retirer d'en bas de l'eau” at the Juilliard School. Edward studied piano with Larry Sitsky at the Australian National University, where he received his Bachelor's Degree in music, and with Solomon Mikowsky at the Manhattan School of Music, where he received his Masters Degree. Other teachers have included Geoffrey Lancaster, Roger Woodward, Irena Orlov, and Santiago Rodriguez. He is currently a candidate for the Doctorate of Musical Arts at The Juilliard School, where he studies with Jerome Lowenthal. |
