Two pianists are wilder than one... Edward and Stephanie have performed as a duo across three continents. Their repertoire encompasses all the standard four hand and two piano repertoire as well as orchestral transcriptions as well as Broadway songs. Stephanie has won virtually all major piano competitions in Indonesia, including the first prize in the prestigious Yamaha National Piano Competition when she was only six (the youngest winner ever). Recently, she won the first prize at the Empire State International Piano Competition, Lillian Fuchs Chamber Music Competition; Top prize, best interpretation and outstanding performance of Franz Liszt at the 2009 Liszt-Garrisson International Piano Competition in the United States. Stephanie began her musical training at the age of two with her mother, Ms. Elly Lim. She passed with distinction the Grade 8 piano exam from the Royal Schools of Music at the venerable age of eleven, soon followed by an Advanced Certificate with the highest score in Indonesia. At age 13, she was awarded the Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music (L.R.S.M.) diploma with highest distinction and a full scholarship invitation to attend the Royal Academy of Music. As a child prodigy, Stephanie has been featured as guest artist in many important events and her performances were broadcast on television. Stephanie performed for the former Indonesian President Soeharto at the Presidential and Ministerial Gathering, raising fund for the poor. She has also played for several Heads of State, including Ambassadors of Russia and Poland. Stephanie was selected to represent Indonesia in the 1996 International Young Pianists in Concert and in the 2003 Young Pianists in Concert and South East Asia Awards in Singapore. She performed at the Aspen Music Festival in 1998, 2003, and 2004, while she was a full scholarship student of the chairman of the piano faculty at the Juilliard School. She was invited to appear as a soloist with the Jakarta Chamber Orchestra. She has been selected to perform in masterclasses by world-renown pianists, such as Arie Vardi, Gary Graffman, Oxana Yablonskaya, Russell Sherman, Alexander Kobrin, Leslie Howard, Martijn Van Den Hoek, among others. She received her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degree as a scholarship student of James Tocco at Manhattan School of Music in New York City. She is now pursuing her Doctoral of Musical Arts at College Conservatory of Music at University of Cincinnati. Her other teachers have included Ms. Elly Lim, Prof. Herbert Stessin and Dr. Hendry Wijaya. |
